Hungarian National Museum welcomes new director
Benedek Varga has been appointed Chief Director of the Hungarian National Museum from July 1, in a final decision made by Zoltán Balog, Minister of Human Capacities, Hungarian online daily origo.hu reported.
Varga, who is set to hold the post for a period of five years, plans to make the Hungarian National Museum one of the top European museums recognized throughout the world, origo.hu said.
The current Chief Director László Csorba, who has passed retirement age, will remain in the position until Varga takes over, origo.hu reported.
According to Péter Hoppál, state secretary of the Ministry of Human Capacities responsible for culture, Benedek Varga was chosen for the position out of five applicants.
