FinMin: Romania could introduce euro on Jan. 1 2014

Romania could introduce the common European currency on January 1st 2014, said Minister of Economy and Finance Varujan Vosganian, cited by Mediafax agency.

At a press conference on Saturday in the town of Suceava the minister expressed hope that Romania would join the euro area at the beginning of 2014 with inflation parameters that comply with the Maastricht criteria. In the period 2012-2014 Romania will be preparing for the euro introduction. The National Bank of Romania will draft a strategy for joining the euro area, the agency adds. (Focus net)
