Dai Dong lays off two-thirds of workers at Hatvan plant
Korean-owned molded plastics company Dai Dong Hungária Kft has laid off two-thirds of the 114 workers at its plant in Hatvan, near Budapest, the local employment office announced on Tuesday.
The layoffs were made after Sony's unit in Hungary failed to renew its contract with the company. Some of its laid off workers are expected to find employment with other companies in the industrial park where it is based, Hatvan mayor Zsolt Érsek said. He added that German engineering company Bosch's factory in Hatvan is expected to boost its staff number to 3,000 by year-end.
Dai Dong spent $4 million to set up the factory in the Hatvan industrial park.
