Hungary’s Competition Office (GVH) fined Bio-Herb Kereskedelmi és Szolgáltató HUF 1.3 mln on charges of misleading advertising, Hungarian news agency MTI reported this morning.

According to the competition office, the company marketed their 105-Deuterium Water Balance product with the endorsement of the Hungarian Anti-Cancer League, giving the false impression that the product had beneficial health effects in fighting cancer. Based on professional judgement, GVH said that the product does not qualify as medicine and it does not have any beneficial health effects.
GVH judged that Bio-Herb and the Hungarian Anti-Cancer League were both responsible for misleading consumers but it only fined Bio-Herb, MTI said.
