Central bank extends daily operation of real-time settlement system

The National Bank of Hungary (MNB) will extend the daily operation of its real-time gross settlement system Viber by 30 minutes from November 2, the bank announced on Wednesday.

Parallel with the change banks will be able to enter into one-day deposit and collateralized loan transaction with the central bank until 5.30 pm instead of the current 5 pm. In another change to its business regulations, the central bank will be able to call rapid deposit and collateralized loan tenders up to 11.30 am instead of 9.00 am. The bank said it had dropped forward securities deals from the regulations, as it is unlikely to use the facility in the near future.
