Portuguese airline TAP has announced the re-launch of direct flights between Budapest and the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, with the first flight taking off on July 1, 2017, according to a press statement sent to the Budapest Business Journal yesterday.

During the summer schedule period, TAP will operate seven flights per week between the two capitals, running every day except Fridays, with two flights early in the morning and five in the afternoon, using 129-seater Airbus A319 or 157-seater Airbus A320 aircraft.

Péter Szolnok, TAP Portugal sales manager for Hungary, said the biggest winners from TAP’s return would be passengers, since the airline is at the forefront of promoting Portugal. TAP Portugal is also an important service provider for South America, and primarily for Brazil. It operates direct flights from Lisbon to no less than nine Brazilian cities, which will become accessible from Budapest, with excellent connectivity.

“Lisbon is quite rightly a popular destination amongst our passengers, and TAP Portugal’s summer schedule provides excellent connectivity between the two capitals, as well as to other Portuguese cities, via transfer at Lisbon. TAP’s wide range of high-quality services makes the journey a pleasant experience, so we expect significant traffic on the route this year,” said Kam Jandu, the Chief Commercial Officer of Budapest Airport, the operator of the capital’s Ferenc Liszt International Airport.
