Snowden: ‘Courageous’ politicians do not build fences

It is easy to claim that our values are being attacked, in order to justify the creation of stricter laws, Edward Snowden told an audience in Budapest late yesterday, during a live feed at a symposium on privacy and surveillance organized by the Vera and Donald Blinken Open Society Archives, Hungarian online daily origo.hu reported.

Courageous is the politician, who in a crisis situation does not start building fences or go to war, but remains composed, said Snowden, according to online daily nol.hu. Hungary has recently seen that if a government is temporarily granted special rights, then temptation to extend such a crisis situation or to find another justification for preserving it, grows, explained Snowden, nol.hu reported.
According to origo.hu, Snowden said that anywhere were wars have been started, more terror has been created than the war was intended to stop.
