Sirha Budapest attracts big numbers, Hungarian team wins Bocuse dʼOr

International food and catering exhibition Sirha Budapest attracted more than 20,000 visitors between May 9-11, exceeding expectations, organizer Hungexpo said on Friday, according to Hungarian news agency MTI reported. Hungarian chef Tamás Széll and his team took the top prize at the Bocuse dʼOr international held within the framework of the exhibition.

Sirha Budapest hosted approximately 400 exhibitors from 19 countries. Of the visitors to the exhibition, 24% came from the catering industry, 16% from the food industry, 15% from the baking and confectionary industry, 14% from the commercial sector, 10% from the hospitality trade and 8% from the services sector. 

The continental selection for the Bocuse dʼOr international gastronomy contest was hosted in Budapest for the first time as part of Sirha Budapest on May 10-11. The winners of the competition, Tamás Széll and his team will move on to the final round in Lyon France in January.
