AccorHotels has finished the next stage of the Mercure Hotels renewal program in Budapest, resulting in a new design for most of the rooms. Most of the work has been carried out in the Mercure Budapest Buda and Mercure Budapest Korona.
After the completion of renovation works, 160 rooms in the 400-room Mercure Budapest Buda and 101 rooms in the 420-room Mercure Budapest Korona have been completely redesigned, says a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.
The French-owned chain is spending EUR 35 million to upgrade its hotels in Budapest, the company told state news wire MTI.
The complete renewal of the Mercure Budapest Buda will be completed by the beginning of next year, while the full renovation of the Mercure Budapest Korona will be completed by 2020. The fully renovated third Mercure hotel, Mercure Budapest City Center, will be opened soon.
The most spectacular changes will be made to the Mercure Budapest Buda, with the lower three floors operating as an Ibis hotel, and the upper floors as a Mercure hotel. This will mean 150 Ibis rooms and 250 Mercure rooms.
AccorHotels operates 18 hotels in Hungary. It employs about 1,000 people in the country.
