Although Lufthansa’s flights have been reported to take the airfields today, including Budapest flights, other strikes have been scheduled for tomorrow and Wednesday, according to a press statement by Lufthansa. Most probably the Budapest flights will also be affected.

Vereinigung Cockpit, the Lufthansa pilots’ union, has called for strikes again on Tuesday, November 29, affecting all short-haul flights from Germany, and Wednesday, November 30, affecting short-, medium- and long-haul flights, according to the press statement by Lufthansa.

“Lufthansa’s representatives are very disappointed that VC does not want to continue talks, but is rather seeking another escalation and calling for additional strikes,” Lufthansa said. “VC has continued to insist on demands that are far beyond what other professions have demanded, for instance. This is unacceptable,” it added.

Lufthansa promised to prepare a special flight schedule for Tuesday and Wednesday as quickly as possible, adding that so far more than 345,000 passengers have been affected by 2,755 flight cancellations during the four days of strikes in the past week.

The group airlines (Eurowings, Germanwings, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Air Dolomiti and Brussels Airlines) are not affected by the strike. Pilots from Lufthansa Cargo have not been called out on strike either. Flights to and from Germany that are operated by Group airlines are flying as scheduled.

UPDATE: As in the majority of cases Budapest flights have been affected by the Lufthansa pilots’ strikes thus far, most probably Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s flights will also be affected, Budapest Airport, the operators of the international airport told the Budapest Business Journal. However, the full extent is only expected to become certain by around 5 p.m. today, and the operator strongly suggests travelers check the Ferenc Liszt International Airport website for the most up-to-date information
