Liszt Ferenc airport pax number exceeds ten million
The number of passengers crossing Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc International Airport has exceeded ten million since the beginning of the year, setting a new record, according to a press statement issued today.
The ten millionth passenger was a married couple from the Hungarian city of Tata, the statement said. With this the airport has moved into the “elite” club of airports that annually handles passenger numbers in the eight digits, operator Budapest Airport said.
“This is a proud moment for Budapest Airport, as surpassing the ten million mark speaks volumes for our hard work and our staying power as one of the leading airports of Europe,” CEO Jost Lammers said.“Our strategy for this year has been to seek out new and exciting destinations, as well as solidifying our position in Central Europe. Next year is already set to be even busier as we continue to do all we can to ensure Budapest, and Hungary, remain an attractive market, while we ensure the demands of our catchment area and beyond are met.”
The average growth of traffic at Budapest Airport this year exceeded 12% by November, more than double the European average, making BUD one of the fastest growing airports on the continent, the press statement noted.
