Uniqa, passive house association team up to promote energy performance certification
The Hungarian Passive House Association (MAPASZ) and insurer Uniqa Biztosító have established a cooperation to raise the number of homes with energy performance certificates, the companies announced on Friday.
From the start of next year, Uniqa will require home insurance policy holders to get energy performance certificates for their homes when bought, sold or rented out, Uniqa's director for general insurance Krisztián Kurtisz said. Uniqa will contribute HUF 15,000 to the cost of obtaining the certificate, he added.
The cost of certifying and average home is about HUF 30,000.
Uniqa unit DEKRA-Expert prepares energy performance certificates, Kurtisz said.
MAPASZ will be the professional editor of a joint energy website it has set up with Uniqa, said association chairman Zoltán Debreczy.
