September trade deficit down to €157 mln

Hungary's trade deficit was €157 million in September, €131 million less than a year earlier, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) reported on Friday. The September figure was down €15 million from a preliminary €172 million deficit reported on November 8. The January-September deficit came to €2.103 billion, down €1.127 billion from the same period of 2004, and €51 billion lower than the first estimate (with other revisions of Q2 data). September exports rose 13.2% year-on-year to €4.722 billion and the imports increased 9.4% to €4.879 billion. In the first nine months, exports were up 11.2% to €36.011 billion, while imports increased 7% to €38.113 billion. In volume terms, nine-month exports grew 10% and imports rose 4% from a year earlier.
