Meat industry output falls 5.8%
The output of Hungary's meat industry fell 5.8% last year, the head of the Hungarian Meat Association Tamás Éder said, according to profitline.hu.
The meat industry's output was over HUF 915 billion last year, said Éder. Processing and preserving meat accounted for HUF 349 bln of the total and producing meat and poultry products made up HUF 218 bln, he added.
Revenue of the processing and preserving segment fell almost 2% and revenue from making meat products dropped by 10.3%. Export revenue fell by 10.7% as revenue from processed and preserved poultry sales was down 18.7%. Domestic revenue was also down 1.5% as a higher retail turnover failed to compensate for a lack of demand in the catering and accommodation sectors.
