Mangalitsa Promotional Campaign Kicks Off

Food

The Agriculture Ministry, the Agricultural Marketing Centre (AMC) and the Hungarian Association of Mangalitsa Breeders launched a campaign on Monday to promote pork products made from mangalitsa, a local breed distinguished by its curly coat and prized for its marbled meat, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

The campaign runs until February 21, before the start of Lent.

About 60% of turnover from mangalitsa products comes from exports, mostly to Spain, but also to markets in Romania, Singapore, Hong Kong, Germany, France and the United Kingdom.

Domestic consumption stands at around 300 tonnes a year.
