Lidl, Dairy Product Council launch dairy week



The Hungarian unit of German retail chain Lidl and the Hungarian Dairy Product Council are launching a dairy week as part of a joint initiative to help raise the profile of the dairy sector by popularizing dairy products.

Hungarian Dairy Week begins on October 19, with the chief aim of making Hungarian dairy products more popular among consumers and motivating an increase in dairy product consumption. During the week, Hungarian dairy products will be highlighted in Lidl stores, while at some locations consumers will be able to sample the products.

In the past 12 months, Lidl sold 48.8 million liters of Hungarian milk, which is 5.5 million liters more than in the previous period. “Lidl’s initiative is commendable. We are very pleased that it provides an opportunity to focus on the excellent dairy products available in Hungary,” Zoltán Harcz, CEO of the Dairy Product Council, said.

“The success of the program is exemplified by the fact that in the past two and a half years, the number of Hungarian dairy products we carry has increased to 66,” Zoltán Nepp, Director of the acquisition department at Lidl Hungary, said.
