Following the results of the company’s earlier investments, improvements in efficiency, increased production volume and a number of successful product developments, the company was able to reach a profit of “several hundred million forints” after a few loss-making years, the CFO said, according to Hungarian news agency MTI.

Sales volume rose 37% as compared to the preceding year, reaching 50,000 tons. Sales of unprocessed meat were up more than 60%, while processed meat accounted for one fourth of total sales, according to reports.

Exports by the company were up 42% as compared to the previous year, generating 37% of revenue, the company announced. The biggest export market last year was Italy, followed by Germany, the Netherlands, Japan and countries surounding Hungary, the company said.

Prohaszka said he expects revenue growth to slow somewhat, while profits could remain stable or rise slightly, MTI reported.

Last year, the company had 723 permanent workers and 74 contracted laborers, MTI said, adding that currently the company is looking for new hires.
