Just a quarter of families have savings

27% of Hungary's families have savings, market research institute GfK Hungária reported on Tuesday.

The institute said the ratio had not changed since the end of last year. The largest number of families, 40.3%, saved money on a regular basis in the north Hungarian region, GfK said. Some 23% of respondents put money aside for unexpected situations, while 17% save up to ensure the future of their children, the institute said.
As for loans, GfK said that most people, 22% of those asked, took out housing loans, mostly in the 30-49 age group.
