Hungary farm sector output grows 10% in 2010

Total output of Hungary's farm sector was worth HUF 1,800bn in 2010, up 10.1% at current prices from 2009, according to a report published on the website of Parliament.
Output in volume terms fell 15.4% as crop output dropped 11% and animal and animal product output edged up 0.9%.
Farm gate prices rose 16.8% in 2010 after declining in 2009. Prices for crops were up more than 30%, in line with international trends, while animal and animal product prices inched up 1.8%.
Investment volume in the sector fell 25.5% in 2010.
Hungarian households purchased food products worth HUF 3,819bn in 2010. This accounted for close to 27.5% of household consumption.
