Hungary's dairy industry is expected to grow 5-10% this year, matching annual growth in the past 3-4 years, the head of the Dairy Products Council said at a forum held on the occasion of the 38th World Milk Day. Last year, the dairy industry generated revenue of more than HUF 220 billion. Output rose 2-3% to 1.6 billion-1.7 billion litres. About 1.2 billion was sold on the domestic market and the rest was exported. Dairy products worth about HUF 120 billion were imported to Hungary. Annual per capita domestic consumption is about 155 litres at present, but the council wants to raise this to 200 litres within ten years.
