Hungary: Agricultural prices on the rise

The average producer price of agricultural products grew 25.6% year-on-year in September, those of the vegetal products and live stock/animal products by 50.6% and 2.6% respectively, reported the Hungarian Central Statistics Office (KSH) on Monday.

In the first nine months the corresponding growths were 16.9% y/y, 32.1% and 1.4%. The producer prices of crops increased by 91.8%, while industrial plants displayed a 3.6% decrease in the first three quarters. Fruit was 42.6% more expensive in the January-September period, the spike in large part determined by soaring apple (84%) and grape (31.9%) price rises. In the first nine months of 2006, the year-on-year increases were 9.4% with agricultural products, 16.1% with vegetal products and 3.5% with live stock/animal products. (Gazdasági Rádió)
