Flextronics may hire dismissed Elcoteq workers

Contract electronics manufacturer Flextronics could hire up to all 1,500 workers recently laid off from their jobs at Finnish electronics manufacturer Elcoteq’s plant in Pécs (S Hungary), the on-line edition of the city newspaper Pécsi Újság reported on Wednesday.
The newspaper said it had obtained information indicating that Flextronics would offer to hire 500 of the 1,500 workers Elcoteq dismissed in October at the company’s plant in Pécs and the other 1,000 at its plant currently undergoing expansion in the city of Zalaegerszeg (E Hungary), located about 140km from Pécs.
Flextronics neither confirmed nor denied the report, the newspaper noted.
