Elmű, Émász call tender worth combined Ft 54.8 bln

Hungarian electricity distributors Elmű Nyrt and Émász Nyrt, both wholly owned by German utilities giant RWE, have called a tender for the delivery of cables and transformers for the next four years worth Ft 54.8 billion.
Elmű will purchase Ft 35.6 billion worth of equipment, and Émász will buy Ft 19.2 billion. Elmű spent Ft 17.02 billion on network developments last year, and Émász spent Ft 8.14 billion, spokesman for both companies Norbert Boross said. He declined to reveal how much the companies plan to spend on investments in the coming two years.
Boross said Elmű's network was valued at Ft 94.1 billion in 2005, while Émász's was assessed to be worth Ft 38.07 billion. However, the units' assets were last appraised in 1992, meaning the figures are out of date.
