Czech natural gas prices for households will rise 7.4% on average from January, after a 4.8% increase in October, the country’s dominant gas supplier RWE Transgas said on Monday.

Overall price rise for households, and small and mid-sized customers will grow 7.8%, up from a 5.0% rise in October. Gas prices in the Czech Republic are set quarterly. Rising prices for gas, electricity, foodstuffs and a sweeping tax overhaul involving a sales tax hike are expected to boost Czech inflation towards 6% early next year, from 4% in October.
