BAT starts HUF 1bn production lines at plant in Hungary
British American Tobacco (BAT) on Thursday put two new production lines, installed at a cost of HUF 1bn, into operation at its plant in Pécs (SW Hungary).
Tobacco products are packaged on the two lines.
About 800 people work at the plant.
BAT Hungary invested HUF 5.4bn at the plant in 2010-2011, boosting output by 30%.
BAT purchased 40% of the 6,232 tons of tobacco Hungarian growers harvested last year. About 65% of BAT Hungary's output is exported.
BAT has two units in Hungary: BAT Pécsi Dohánygyár, which had revenue of HUF 120.3bn in 2010, down from HUF 149.3bn in 2009; and British American Tobacco Magyarország, whose revenue dropped to HUF 159.7bn from HUF 166.6bn.
