Banks lay off more than 500 in H1
More than 500 people were laid off in the Hungarian banking sector in the first half of the year, according to a survey by business daily Világgazdaság.
The survey of 14 commercial banks showed 537 staff were laid off during the period, though overall headcount fell by 359.
Headcount at the banks was 28,783 at the end of the June, down by 2,873 from the end of 2008.
