Hungarian wines have taken 24 medals at the 38th International Wine Challenge (IWC), the organizers said, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

A Gold Trophy went to Juliet Victor Vineyard's 2017 6 puttonyos Tokaji Aszú.

Judges said the wine was "intensely sweet with balancing acidity", "complex and pure, super rich with a long, lingering finish" in their tasting notes.

Gold Medals were won by Royal Tokaji's 2017 6 puttonyos Aszú, in which judges detected "honey, ginger and marmalade" on the nose, and by Tornai Cellars' 2019 Top Selection Szent Ilona Olaszrizling, which judges said was "fresh and stony with complex savory hints and alternative citrus and pear fruit".

Hungarian wines won a further eleven silver and ten bronze medals. Seven Hungarian wines were acknowledged with "Commended" awards.
