The association of Hungarian brewers AHB has appointed Klára Csik-Kovács to serve as the organization's new president effective from September 1, the AHB told MTI on Thursday.

The AHB, which is composed of the Borsod Brewery, the Dreher Breweries and Heineken's Hungarian unit, Heineken Hungária, noted that beer sales in Hungary have fallen by nearly 25% since 2007, including a 6% decline last year.

The AHB three member breweries command 90% of Hungary's beer market, according to the association's website.

Previous AHB President László Mádi had led the organization since July.
