Borsodi Celebrates 50 Years on the 'Frothy Side of Life'

Drinks

Borsodi held an event on April 20, where, apart from recalling the most important events and innovations in the brewery's history, the company also demonstrated how modern keg tapping technology works, with customer excellence director Tibor Őz explaining the secrets of a perfect pint to the audience.

Borsodi Brewery, one of Hungary's biggest beer manufacturers, is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its foundation this month with the introduction of a birthday logo for its flagship Borsodi Világos beer, and special prizes for its consumers.

Borsodi Brewery started its operations 50 years ago, in April 1973, in Bőcs (about 155 km northeast of the capital).

The brewery's first product, Borsodi Világos, has become one of the most popular beers in the country over the past five decades. The first bottle has since been followed by millions of hectolitres, and Borsodi Brewery has grown from a factory serving local needs to a regional center for one of the world's largest companies, Molson Coors.

The company is credited with the introduction of the first non-alcoholic beer in Hungary and, in response to consumer demand, it was also among the first companies to introduce a flavored beer, called Borsodi Friss, to the Hungarian market.

Borsodi also introduced a number of innovations in the field of packaging, as it was the first brewery to make aluminum cans available to consumers in the country and it was also the first to introduce kegs for catering establishments.

"Borsodi Brewery adapts its portfolio and products to changing market trends and consumer needs. The success of this strategy is proven by the fact that thanks to the renewed Borsodi Világos recipe brewed from pure barley malt and our new Borsodi portfolio, we closed a successful year in 2022, as domestic consumers expect consistent, reliable quality and are open to trying new things", emphasized Zsolt Vuleta, managing and commercial director of Borsodi Brewery. "We are proud of our successes over the past five decades, and we owe it all to our dedicated colleagues, cooperative partners, and loyal consumers."

Over the last five decades, Borsodi Brewery has also been focusing on sustainability, in order to reduce its ecological footprint, protect the environment, support communities, and help its employees.

The brewery also announced the launch of a special gift promotion for its consumers. From May 18 to July 6, for 50 days, those who send in the code on the opening tab of the cans of Borsodi beers participating in the promotional program will be entered into a draw to win an Edenred card worth HUF 50,000 and one Neuzer bicycle per day.
