Number of seasonal labourers in 'simplified' employment doubles as administration eased

The number of seasonal labourers working under a "simplified" form of employment in Hungary's farm and tourism sector reached almost 512,000 in July, more than double the number in the same month a year earlier, the last before the procedure for declaring simplified employment was made less complicated, the National Economy Ministry said on Friday.
Administration for the form of employment was eased with regulations that came into force on August 1, 2010. Under the new rules, employers may register employees electronically or by telephone. A contract must be signed only if the employee requests it. Under the simplified form of employment, payroll tax per employee is just HUF 500 per day for work that lasts the whole season and HUF 1,000 per day for off-and-on work.
