Kazakhmys says in merger talks with unnamed firm

Kazakh copper producer Kazakhmys said on Monday it was in preliminary talks about a possible merger, but did not identify the party.
“The discussions are at a very early stage and, consequently, there is no certainty as to the terms and structure of such a transaction nor that an agreement will be reached between the parties,” a statement said.
Russia’s Metalloinvest was holding talks to merge with Kazakhmys to gain access to the London stock market, sources close to the talks told Reuters on Monday. (Reuters)
