Fidesz: Utilities could become non-profits after election
Parliament may wait until after the general election in the spring to approve legislation on transforming public utilities providers into non-profit companies, Fidesz parliamentary caucus leader Antal Rogán said on commercial television on Monday.
Rogán said the bill on the transformation had still not been submitted to Parliament, explaining that “Perhaps debate of the bill will start [before the general election], but it’s not sure at all that it will be approved.”
He confirmed that the current government still aims to turn household utilities into a non-profit sector, a plan announced more than one year ago.
