Austria to open labor market for 15 professions
The Austrian government plans to open its labor market for citizens of the twelve new Eastern and Central European EU member states in 15 professions, Economy and Labor Minister Martin Bartenstein said.
The professions in question are seriously in demand in Austria. The job openings may be valid from July 1. In H1, 2008 2,584 Central and Eastern Europeans were employed in Austria, 1,386 of them arrived from Hungary, but the Austrian Labor Market Service found about 6,000-7,000 vacancies in Austria that could be filled by foreigners.
The 15 new professions include carpenters, agricultural machine producers, plastic processors, insurance agents, technicians, etc. Austria plans to welcome specialists with a degree and trained labor force from 2009 without limitation and restrictions for all workers limits may be lifted from 2011, Bartenstein said.
