Pay for parking, motorways with your phone
As of July 1, Hungary will introduce a uniform system allowing motorists to pay for parking and motorway use via their mobile phones, state-owned mobile payment company Nemzeti Mobilfizetési told MTI today.
The IT development of the system was finished two weeks ago, and live operation is currently being tested with the contribution of future parking service providers, vendors, mobile operators and mobile payment operators.
Under the plan, Nemzeti Mobilfizetési will be the only collector of the fees provided by the system, and companies offering mobile payment serv ices would be operating as resellers. The act regulating the system was passed by two third majority in 2011.
