Van Gogh exhibition insured for Ft 150 bln
There will be Ft 150 billion (€580.5 million) worth of insurance on the upcoming exhibition of Van Gogh works at the Hungarian Museum of Fine Arts.
Twenty of the 77 paintings to be displayed at the exhibition, which will open December 2, have already arrived in Budapest, director of the museum László Baán said on Thursday. Baán said that the exhibition has been compiled from 40 different collections, which include the Van Gogh Museum of Amsterdam, the Musee D'Orsay of Paris, The Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York and the National Gallery of Art of Washington.
Van Gogh's "L'Arlésienne: Madame Ginoux" was unpacked on Wednesday, Baán said. The painting arrived from Rome and is insured for Ft 8.5 billion. Baán said the exhibition will feature an even more valuable painting than that, but the title of this piece has not yet been made public. The exhibition will also feature drawings and graphics from the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts and from several private collections.
