Fedél Nélkül to hold awards gala for homeless artists
Fedél Nélkül, a street newspaper distributed by the homeless similar to The Big Issue in the U.K., will hold a gala featuring an award ceremony for homeless artists at the Eötvös 10 community and cultural center on May 2, according to a press release sent to the Budapest Business Journal.
Awards will be handed out in three categories: "Poem of the Year," "Prose of the Year," and "Picture of the Year"
The submitted works approach a wide variety of topics, such as Einstein, Monet, Jesus and UFOs, and Endre Ady as a woman, alongside more traditional ones such as fine dining and love. The event will take place for the 13th occasion, beginning at 6 p.m., hosted by musician and composer Péter Huzella, with the participation of actors, and a jury featuring writer and poet Krisztina Tóth, who has been evaluating the pieces for multiple years.
The winning pieces will also be played on stage during the event by a range of actors and actresses, including artists from the József Katona Theater, Andrea Fullajtár and Hanna Pálos. The poems, prose and pictures submitted will feature drama, irony, and humor as well, according to the press release.
