Tenders worth almost HUF 20bn called for railway renovation

Hungary's National Infrastructure Development Company (NIF) has called two tenders for a combined HUF 19.9 billion to renovate about 30 km of railway along the main line connecting the capital with Esztergom, in the north of the country in the latest issue of the Public Procurement Gazette.
One tender is to renovate tracks between Pilisvorosvar and Piliscsaba. NIF estimates the project is worth net HUF 11.4 billion. The other tender is for the stretch between Piliscsaba and Esztergom, which NIF expects to cost net HUF 8.6 billion to renovate.
The deadline or bidding for both tenders is September 22. The winner is expected to be announced on November 24 and a contract signed on December 5.
European Union funding will cover the cost of 85% of the projects.
