Hungarian farmers receive HUF 650 bln in support in 2012

Hungarian farmers received HUF 650 billion in support last year, over the HUF 627 billion target, daily Magyar Nemzet said on Wednesday, citing data from agriculture research institute AKI. A total of HUF 733 billion in farm and rural development funding was available last year, including monies left over from earlier programs, the paper said. Wholly European Union-funded grants accounted for almost 54% of the payouts last year. Support comprised of EU and state co-financing made up more than 35% and state grants accounted for 11%.
