Corporate revenue of Győr county-based companies up 16%

Combined revenue of companies based in Győr county (NW Hungary) rose 16.5% last year, but was still 8.5% under the amount in 2008, local tax office chief Szabolcs Horváth said at a press conference on Monday.
The number of people employed at the companies in the county rose by 1,135 people in 2010, but was still 7,788 under the number in 2008, Horváth said.
The biggest pre-tax profit by a single company, HUF 165 billion, was booked by a car maker. The second-biggest, HUF 8.5 billion, was booked by a gas industry company.
Győr is home to the Hungarian base of German carmaker Audi and many of its suppliers.
Combined costs of companies in the country rose 13.1% to HUF 3,166 billion. Operating profit more than doubled from the previous year to HUF 243.2 billion.
The companies' combined financial loss narrowed to HUF 1.7 billion from 6.8 billion.
Their combined pre-tax profit nearly doubled to HUF 249.5 billion.
