BUX climbs 1.7% on back of strong US open

After a volatile start on Wednesday, the Budapest Stock Exchange main share index hugged the break even mark for much of the session until a strong showing on US markets lifted the BUX to an 18,631 close, up 1.7% from the previous day.

OTP Bank was the only blue chip to make a loss, dropping into the red in the last minutes of trade to finish down 0.70% at HUF 4,720. Turnover of the share came to HUF 10 billion or a little more than three-fourths of the HUF 13.4 billion session total.

Oil and gas company MOL climbed 2.1% to HUF 17,205 on turnover of HUF 1.7 billion.

Drugmaker Richter jumped 5.3% to HUF 35,800 on turnover of HUF 1.1 billion.

Magyar Telekom advanced 1% to HUF 509 on turnover of HUF 197 million.
