Varga aims to focus on economic growth
Kick-starting economic growth is the most important task of this year and the next, National Economy Minister Mihály Varga told German company representatives in Berlin on Thursday. Getting the economy to grow will require more than just changing legislation; stability and predictability are also necessary, so businesses believe it is worthwhile to invest because profit outlooks are good, Varga told officials from companies such as Daimler, Hochtief and Siemens. Hungary “cannot go it alone” in its efforts to support growth, he added. He said that stability Hungary has achieved in the recent period are a sign the “the last three years were not in vain.” But he conceded that much would depend on what happens in Europe. “The results of stabilization will disappear very quickly if there is no economic growth,” he said.
