New development minister to strive to accelerate economic processes
Parliament’s audit office and budget committee supported the appointment of Zsuzsanna Nemeth as National Development Minister beginning on January 1 on Friday.
Ms Zsuzsanna Nemeth said she believes that as development minister she will be able to facilitate the acceleration of economic processes.
She said she will give special attention to the problems of Hungarian businesses and will try to support small and medium-sized companies.
The committee supported her appointment with 19 yes-votes and 6 nay-votes.
Listing priority objectives, she said she wants to facilitate companies’ access to state orders, to protect and efficiently operate state-owned assets, to ensure the transparent, rational use of public funds, to preserve the role of nuclear energy in energy supply and increase the share of renewable energy sources.
Parliament’s Economic and IT Committee and Local Council and Regional Development Committee supported Mrs Nemeth’s appointment on Thursday.
The prime minister appointed Mrs. Nemeth to become national development minister in place of Tamas Fellegi, who resigned from the post earlier in December to focus as minister without portfolio on his role as leader of Hungary’s delegation in talks with the International Monetary Fund and the European Commission regarding a financial-assistance package.
