Hárskúti plans Ft 10 bln wind farm in southwest Hungary

The wind farm is the fourth the company is building in Hungary. Hárskúti has acquired all the necessary environmental permits for the construction of the farm, which will consist of fourteen 110-meter wind turbines capable of generating 42 MW of electricity, Hárskúti managing director Károly Radzik told the paper. Construction at the site will take a further six months, he said. Radzik said the company has still not decided from whom to purchase the turbines.
The local authorities have reached an agreement under which the village's public buildings will not be required to pay their electricity bills after the wind farm is completed, nor will the village be required to pay its bills for public street lighting.
The four wind farms Hárskúti is working on have a combined value of Ft 50 billion, Radzik said. Financing for the projects is coming from EETEK Energy Efficiency Technologies Zrt, owned by a fund of France's Dexia Bank and the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to reduce energy consumption and emissions of greenhouse gas in the CEE region. Radzik said he expected to see more wind farms built in Hungary as the process for applying for permits has been speeded up.
