German investors interested in power plant construction in Slovakia
German E.ON expressed interest to continue its planned investment project for construction of a 210MW gas power plant in western Slovakia, its board member Johannes Teyssen announced in talks with economy minister Lubomir Jahnatek.
Another German energy group RWE was also looking to invest in renewable energy resources in the country. It had also agreed with steel mill US Steel in Kosice on the joint construction of a gas power plant, which would possibly serve the electricity demands of the steel producer. Jahnatek showed support for the RWE investment while his stance on the E.ON investment plans remained unclear. Earlier, however, PM Robert Fico had named E.ON as one of the most reliable partners of the government in the energy field so we do believe that the company could rely on an accommodating position of the cabinet. E.ON holds a minority 49% stake in the regional power distributor ZSE, while RWE controls 49% in another of the main power distributors VSE. (financnik)
