Enel acquires Blue Line, expands footprint in renewable energy

European utility Enel, through its subsidiary Enel Investment Holding, has finalized the acquisition of 100% of Blue Line, a Romanian energy company.

Blue Line owns the rights to develop wind power projects in the Dobrogea area, with an overall future potential capacity of approximately 200MW. The projects are under development and are planned to become operational in 2010. Through this transaction, Enel takes an important step in establishing a position in the renewable energy sector in Romania in line with to the company’s strategy to pursue a balanced fuel mix in which renewables play a significant role.
