Austrian Wind Power, a wholly-owned unit of BEWAG, and two private Hungarian individuals, laid the cornerstone for a €12 million wind farm in the village of Jánossomorja, near Hungary’s border with Austria, on Wednesday.

The investors will erect four, 2MW Vestas V90 wind-powered turbines, said Imre Litresits, managing director of project company Renerwind Energetika. The turbines will generate an annual 17,000-20,000MW of electricity, or enough for 6,000-8,000 homes. Ferenc Csatai, one of the owners of Renerwind, said the investors expect to recoup their investment within ten years. Austrian Wind Power owns 74% of Renerwind. Csatai and another private Hungarian investor each own 13% of the company. (MTI-Econews)
