Budapest bourse foresees two IPOs this year

The Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE) foresees two initial public offerings (IPO) this year, CEO Zsolt Katona and vice president Bálint Szécsényi said yesterday.
Financial instruments need to be more liquid, the supply side of the stock market bigger and the Hungarian investor sector stronger to take advantage of the local capital market, Szécsényi said.
Katona stressed the importance of creating an SME segment on the BSE. This could be encouraged with the use of European Union funds, governmental allocations or support from the central bank similar to that of its Funding for Growth Scheme.
Both experts agreed that it would be favorable if more state-owned companies were present on the stock market.
