Government expects developments to raise passenger numbers on Metro 4

City

The Hungarian government hopes that following cooperation with Budapest, traffic developments on metro line 4 will increase the number of passengers in the coming years, Zsolt Becsey, state secretary of the Ministry of National Development, said today, the official government website kormany.hu reported.

Becsey noted that at the launch of the line in spring 2014, the metro had 100,000 passengers, which grew to 160,000 by the end of the year. He said that he expects numbers this year to be similar.

The secretary noted that by the end of the year, the “temporary operation” of the line could be closed, and a final operating certificate could be granted for the line, which will carry “more technological advantages”. For instance, the carriages may become driverless.
