The price of a bus ticket to the airport could rise to HUF 1,500, Deputy Mayor of Budapest Ambrus Kiss told journalists last week, according to news portal 24.hu.

The Municipal Assembly of Budapest will discuss the proposal to raise the price of airport bus tickets on May 25.

Currently, an airport bus ticket costs HUF 900.

Kiss said that, if adopted, the new fares for the 100E service between Ferenc Liszt Airport and Budapest would come into force on July 1 and pointed out that when the service started, it cost about EUR 2.9 a ticket when converted to HUF, but now costs EUR 2.5.

He added that 83% of the passengers on the airport bus are foreigners.
