Danube to peak in Budapest on Monday
Water levels on the Danube in Budapest are expected to peak on Monday, a day later than earlier thought, the National Engineering Directorate (OMIT) said. The river is expected to peak at 8.75 meters in the capital on Monday, OMIT said. Flood waters on the Danube have forced the closure of embankment roads in the capital and disrupted some public transport service. Prime Minister Viktor Orbán declared a state of emergency in areas affected by flooding along the Danube from noon on Tuesday.
